Brown's writing is not just bad; it is staggeringly, clumsily, thoughtlessly, almost ingeniously bad.The Language Log does a great job explaining why reading The Da Vinci Code filled me with rage. My explanation is that it's written at a fourth-grade reading level. His is slightly more in-depth.
